Welcome to my homepage! First of all allow me to introduce myself. My name is Andrea Tanksley, I was born in 1960 and attended the "Meisterschule fuer Mode" in Munich. During the following years I worked as a graphic designer and as an illustrator for several magazines, before I adressed myself increasingly to painting again. When I was asked to produce a cat-portrait some time ago, I was not enthusiastic at first. Though I had been keeping cats formerly and I consider myself as fond of animals, I never had felt the impulse to portray an animal. The more I was surprised how much fun I had with the job and how interesting it was to picture the distinctive "personality" of the cat, as this was exactly what I intended to do. From then on requests have become more and more numerous, which seems to show that I have achieved my aim. Some examples of my work are exhibited at the online-gallery. I use acrylic colours and canvas, painting from photographs. You find a compilation of tips for a good photo of your animal on an extra page.
